Knut Hansen is an Artisan Gin distilled and handcrafted in Hamburg, Germany, by Kaspar Hagedorn und Martin Spieker. What started as an idea and chat over a couple of beers on a night out in Hamburg, has turned into a great and successful business for the two friends.
The first batch was produced in 2017 in one of their friend's distillery and in 2019 Martin and Kaspar opened their own distillery in Hamburg. From there, Knut Hansen is sold into 20 countries, including Japan, Taiwan and South Africa and has already won several awards.
Knut Hansen is a regional Gin, so using regional botanicals is very important to Martin and Kaspar. Cucumber and basil for example, come from their own cultivation and all apples come from the farmers around Hamburg.
The Main Botanicals
Our distinctive Gin of Juniper, sweet basil, cucumber and fresh apples from local Hamburg farmers making Knut Hansen what is it: a truly authentic hanseatic gin. Enjoy Knut Hansen the Hamburg way: a soft drizzle, a stiff cool breeze from the West, sitting on the beach with friends, overlooking the harbor - and in your hand an ice cold Knut Hansen Dry Gin with Tonic.
The Gin is produced in a copper still, in the "Dollerer Distille".
Knut Hansen Dry Gin is distilled four times with a very low energy input, which is a complex process. Doing it this way enables conserving the unique taste of the Gin and protecting the natural aroma. Once finished, Knut Hansen Gin is manually filled into beautiful stoneware bottles, sealed with high quality corks and handcrafted labels.
